Folio 2.0 for macOS

Markdown that reads like a book
and edits like a thought.

Folio renders your notes beautifully, then lets you click any paragraph, heading, list or table and edit its Markdown right where it sits. Press Esc and it’s a page again.

Click. Edit. Esc.

Most Markdown apps make you choose between a raw editor and a pretty preview. Folio is one surface.

  1. 1

    Read

Open a file or a whole folder. Headings, tables, callouts, code and task lists render the way they deserve to.

  2. 2

    Click

Click any block and it becomes its Markdown, right in place, with your caret where you clicked.

  3. 3

    Done

Press Esc or click away, and it renders again. Your file is still plain Markdown, ready for Git, Obsidian or anything else.

A real workbench, not a viewer.

Workspaces

Group folders into named workspaces that remember their open tabs. Switch projects with ⌃⌘R.

Tabs that behave

VS Code-style tabs with preview tabs, drag to reorder, middle-click to close and reopen-closed.

Find anything

⌘P for files, @ for headings, ⇧⌘P for every command, plus regex search across the workspace.

Three modes

Live, Split with synced scrolling, or Source with a highlighted Markdown editor. Switch with ⌘1 ⌘2 ⌘3.

Built for reading

Four themes, including true-black OLED and warm Paper. Choose New York, Charter or Iowan, and set your column width.

Tables that breathe

Wide tables scroll instead of crushing words into one-letter columns. Callouts, front matter and 30+ code languages too.

Live with your files

Folio notices edits from other apps, reloads cleanly and warns before anything could be overwritten.

Yours, offline

No account, no telemetry, no network calls. Remote images stay blocked until you allow them. Built with Rust and Tauri.
